Post Show Post: Rockwood Music Hall 12.1.10
Thank you to all the fine people who came out to the show on Wednesday night.
6pm was a rough time slot, but we made it work, and I have to say I kind of liked being the first one on. I had time to put my stickers out on the tables, there was no feeling of rejection when the audience from the previous act walks out halfway through your set...speaking of which, this is a good time to mention that Rockwood has a good thing going on. Great set up with that room attached and the audio/video patched in so you can still watch the performer. I was able to converse with the folks who came to my set, and still enjoy Karly Jurgensen's music.
Anyway, I'm really happy with what went down Wednesday. I had an attentive crowd and that always makes for a more intimate performance out of me, so for that I'm extremely grateful. Thanks a million to my friend JFJohnson for holding up the arm & filming just about the entire back-half of my set which I have now posted all over the place, including a few below, just to dress up this post. But not MySpace, I have a small bone to pick with MySpace at the moment and I don't want to exert any energy into trying to figure out their new format just yet...they're on the back-burner.
As I mentioned on stage, it was an interesting role reversal since I've been doing the open mic circuit. For the first time, my closest friends hadn't heard my newer songs, but plenty of people I've never met have. It was a nice feeling to know that everyone was hearing something new..the old folks had new songs, and the new folks had old songs...got that? I'm also glad I had a chance to cover M. Ward this time around...as you know he's one of my favorite songwriters, and it felt good to pay a little respect to someone who's had such a major influence on me. Check it out below.
That's all for now. Between the holidays & working on the yet-to-be-titled album, I'll have a show in Astoria on December 23rd that I will definitely post more detail about in the next week or so, and I'll be back at Rockwood shortly after the new year!
Enjoy the videos, tell your friends, pass along some links...and let's get people mis-pronouncing Sucich all over this fine country!
